Mateo’s Approach

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in seeing you as a whole person—not just a set of symptoms. I integrate practical, evidence-based tools with deeper, relational work to help you understand patterns, process past experiences, and build meaningful change in your life and relationships. Drawing from attachment-based and experiential approaches, I support you in developing self-awareness, emotional resilience, and more secure ways of connecting with yourself and others. At the core, I believe you are the expert on your life—my role is to provide guidance, structure, and insight as we work toward lasting, meaningful growth.

I believe therapy works best when it feels safe, collaborative, and genuinely human. My role isn’t to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and practical tools that support meaningful, lasting change.

I’m especially drawn to the stories people carry—the parts that feel heavy, hidden, or hard to talk about. I strive to create a space where you can show up fully as yourself, without judgment, and feel supported every step of the way.

My work focuses on trauma, attachment wounds, and the ways our past experiences shape our relationships, sexuality, and sense of self. I integrate EMDR with attachment-based, somatic, and experiential approaches to help clients move beyond insight and into deeper nervous system healing.

I work with individuals and couples navigating complex trauma, intimacy concerns, and relationship challenges. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, and welcoming of diverse identities and relationship structures, including polyamory and consensual non-monogamy.

Above all, my goal is to offer a steady, compassionate partnership where healing feels possible and you don’t have to do the hard parts alone.
